John Kettle has climbed a new 7B at Brant Fell. This is situated on The Slab, just right of existing problem Carsick. John gives the scoop:
“I climbed this reallly weird new problem, it treads a very fine line between no-hands chilling and desperate cranking, requiring a crazy number of moves to climb a ~3m slab! Both start holds are thumb spikes, used in combo with opposing vertical smears. It’s an intense test of thumbs and balance, and took me over 30 attempts (and a thumb flapper) to repeat . I found the third foot move to be the crux!”
