John Kettle has developed a nice looking new bouldering spot below teh trad crag of Raven Crag Thirlmere, with the main event being a leaning board-style wall hosting three excellent fingery problems on a big block 10 minutes from the road. Park here:
54.56223874231849, -3.0730021866824853
This is currently only accessible from the North (down a minor road off the dual carriageway) due to road closures at the dam.
Walk up the path opposite the parking to a forestry road, turn left onto this and follow it to a hairpin bend, where the smooth face of The Lorax 7B, The Onceler 7A+ and Humming Fish 7B+ is in full view (10 mins).
Below and behind this huge block are a scattering of smaller ones, the furthest uphill one (directly behind the main block, 50m away) hosts Bar-ba-loot 7A and Truffula 7A on it’s downhill face.
There’s potential for a few more problems and variations in the area.
Descriptions of the problems can be foundĀ here on UKC, beta below, and another one of the three main ones including Humming Fish from John Hartley onĀ youtube here.
